English Programmes for Groups
School group study programmes where you stay with a local host in home-stay accommodation is an area which we specialise in year-round at our English language school in Edinburgh but you can also bring groups to one of our summer residential centres.
Our friendly and experienced team are available to assist and guide you through all of the stages required to plan a school group study holiday. We will assist you step by step through the process. If you are not sure how it works or what you want, send us an email to [email protected] and we’ll be delighted to provide you with more information.
As a group leader you become an integral part of the Mackenzie team.
We work closely with you from start to finish to make sure your students are safe, well-looked after and getting the very best out of the experience.
Many group leaders return to Mackenzie School year after year and not only because we make their jobs easier and try to ensure that it’s as stress-free as possible, but because they feel part of the team and know how we operate.
When you come to Mackenzie School of English as a group leader with a school group we make sure that:
- you are introduced to the staff team and know who does what
- you know what we expect from you and what you can expect from us
- you have regular meetings with our management team
- you can contact us at any time of day or night 24/7
- you feel relaxed and happy.
- you will want to come back again and again!
We appreciate the responsibility you have and understand that being a group leader isn’t always an easy job. That’s why we do everything we can to make it as enjoyable as possible.
If you have any questions on being a group leader or want more details about how to organise a group visit, send us an email – [email protected]
‘Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand’ Chinese proverb
Our lessons are task-based, content driven and motivational. We engage students by keeping things close to their hearts and making sure the topics appeal to them.
At the core of this methodology is the ‘task’. This is a communicative, collaborative activity, which has a clear outcome.
Examples of this are:
- creative tasks
- preparing and presenting a role-play
- problem solving
- ranking a series of options
These tasks allow you to use your existing language skills, pushing you to recall previously learned grammar, lexis and functions. Task-based lessons give students the freedom to use the widest possible range of language to complete the task.
More often than not, it’s our activity programme which leaves our students with the long-lasting memories of their time at Mackenzie School. This is why we consider students’ recreational time to be as important as their classroom time.
Our activities not only provide a platform to learn about Scotland and the UK, they can help your self-confidence and motivation while making friends in the process and most importantly, having FUN!!
- Our highly trained activity staff ensure trips and excursions are well-prepared and run smoothly.
- Activities are supplemented with language tasks, team-building activities and challenges.
- We have used our expert knowledge to pick out the best the UK has to offer.
