Edinburgh is Scotland’s capital city and is the perfect destination for a study trip. As a small city with only half a million inhabitants, Edinburgh is very easy to move around and students often tell us how comfortable they feel. With some of the top tourist attractions in the UK and a world–famous cultural programme, it regularly ranks as one of the top places in the world to visit!
You can’t help falling in love with this majestic city with its medieval Old Town, elegant Georgian New Town, and towering extinct volcanoes offering breath–taking views of the city! Edinburgh Castle is home to Scotland’s Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny, as well as stunning views of the entire city. You might not know this, but Edinburgh also hosts the world’s largest arts festival – ‘The Edinburgh Festival Fringe’ – which takes place every August for three weeks. It boasts street performers, comedy shows, and gigs in venues throughout the city – it’s not to be missed!
Our school is in Leith, an area like no other. Just over a mile from the city centre and Princes Street but with its own distinct character, Leith is a hub of lively cafés and restaurants, creativity, community events and cultural diversity. Resting on the shores of the Firth of Forth and having served as Edinburgh’s port for hundreds of years, the original harbour has welcomed many travelling kings and queens, including Mary Queen of Scots and King George IV. Today, Leith is a vivacious area jam–packed with delicious delis, cool drinking spots and top restaurants boasting some of Scotland’s finest chefs.
Its eclectic mix of people and cultures make each visit a unique experience. Our school boasts a large common room, modern facilities, superfast WiFi and an outside area to the front with picnic benches. The trendy area around the school is made up of a mixture of boutique shops, small cafes and independent businesses. A round the corner is the lovely green space of Leith Links; a lovely place to relax with friends on a sunny day. Click on the image to take a virtual tour of our school…
